Believe it or not, cooking a beef brisket joint roast requires some knowledge of physics. Since water starts to evaporate at 212 degrees F, cooking a brisket at 200 degrees, all of the juices are saved, and the brisket meat is more tender than thought possible.
So on a rather brilliant suggestion, we skipped out of the fluorescent doldrums of the Friday office -- as people slowly slip into thoughts of the weekend -- and went to Rocklands for a mid-day break and lunch. I had forgotten how good (and cheap) the barbecue is: succulent chicken and chopped pork, choice of brisket in slow cooker and perfectly simmered collard greens.

Years ago I went to Belgium and could not get enough of the the classic Belgian meal, moulle e frites, mussels and fresh-cut French fries. Of course the slow cooker bbq brisket Belgian beer is world renowned. Every small town has a pub that makes remarkable beer, and in the cities you can sit outside in an outdoor cafe and enjoy a big steaming pot of mussels and drink some amazing beers. Witbier is a classic with steamed mussels, but when I was in Belgium I preferred to try as many different Abbey Dubels and Tripels as I could, and they paired perfectly with the succulent North Sea Belgian mussels.
The waiter/server/cook/cashier was very friendly though and I really felt for the guy being so short-handed. Overall, the food at Porky's Pride Real Pit BBQ is good, but not to die for. I would like to visit in the future bbq beef kabobs cook time try their "Meatwiches," as well as their homemade pecan pie, which sounds delicious.
